Dr Colin and Dr Sian Goodson were partners within the Family Health Medical Group which was originally founded in 2008 with its flagship clinic in Golden Grove. The Group now comprises three practices throughout the Northern suburbs of Adelaide with a team of 25 doctors, and a large team of nurses, Allied Health practitioners and specialists.

The Family Health Medical Group team reached a point where they had outgrown their management structure and had to decide how the Group was going to continue to grow and develop. Their business partner introduced them to Better Medical because they were familiar with the Group and knew they shared similar values.

After discussions with the Better Medical team, the Goodsons decided that there were many reasons why Better Medical seemed like the best fit and entered into partnership with them in May 2019.

Dr Sian Goodson has found the HR support to be the biggest benefit so far as it has provided Practice Managers and herself with a reliable contact to call whenever they need.

“We decided their model of buying our Practice was the best model, so they bought the whole practice. Colin and I are now shareholders in the broader Better Medical business, so we’re still part of it but we’re also a part of a bigger team,” said Dr Sian Goodson.

Dr Colin Goodson has been extremely pleased with the light-touch approach and how Better Medical haven’t rebranded or changed the Practices. Everything has remained the same, but they have gained the enhanced managerial support they needed.

“Our partnership with Better Medical so far has been fantastic – there’s been very little change at all in the feel of the Practice and the running of the Practice and we’ve had positive feedback from staff and patients alike,” said Dr Colin Goodson.
